Calderdale Explorers are very happy to host monthly CVLs to allow local players within the north west of England to enjoy competitive basketball. CVL means Central Venue League where teams come together for a one day event and compete in a league of the attending teams on the day.
The ethos of the event is very much community based and clubs can enter as many teams as they want irrespective of experience and ability . This means all players who attend Calderdale Explorers and MYM training sessions can play competitively against teams from other clubs . The games are supervised by qualified referees and days are organised so all teams play each other and all players get game time and the experience of competitive organised matches on full courts with referees , timed games and scoreboards.
The events have now been established for over a year with a Saturday each month dedicated to each of the 3 Junior age groups at Under 12 , Under 14 and Under 16 . This allows all the clubs to attend and provide competition as an alternative choice to playing in Basketball England's National League which focuses on the more talented players and requires high levels of logistics, organisation and year long .
The events have been regularly attended by teams from clubs such as Hatfield Flyers , West Craven Turbines , Bradford Dragons , Burnley Blazers as well as teams from Calderdale Explorers .
