Hawks 2 : A Proven Success , U16 Celebrate Championship with a W, U14 Win Big in Double Header!

The rising U14 Team are battling for a very respectable top 4 finish in a tough NBL Conference League and they faced a weekend double header playing home and away against Spen Valley Vipers U14 . They kept their rise up the league progressing with high scoring wins in both fixtures . Lewis Brown (22 Points), Franz Remoroza (19) and Oliveris Varnelis (13) all scored big in a home win of 92-26 on the Saturday.

The return leg was at Bradford College, which is the new home of Spen Valley Vipers after many years in Batley , with Explorers U14 NBL team reaching one hundred points in a game for the 4th time this year , a testament to their level of scoring ability , with a 104-26 win on the road . Oliveris Varnelis top scored with 22 points , Lewis Brown continued his consistent high scoring contribution with 20 points with Cameron Domyem bringing 16 points in an impressive display.

Calderdale Hawks 2 completed their season with a second leg play off loss of 31-50 at North Halifax Grammar School against Leeds Lions Rock II meaning an exit at the quarter final stage of the post season playoffs with Gavin Parkinson delivering a strong 13 points. This was the first season of adding an additional team as part of the Hawks set up and the team claimed a creditable fifth place in their division . This first season was about ensuring that a second team was sustainable and their was enough interest for the team to survive and thrive. This has now very clearly become a proven success and looking forward to the team going from strength to strength next season .

With the U16 NBL Regional League secured in the previous weekend , the Explorers U16 NBL team could celebrate in style with another on-the-road win . This time they outplayed QE Basketball Academy U16 II team with a high scoring first quarter of 30 points establishing a 17 point lead early on . From there they extended the lead in every quarter finishing the game with a 79-35 win meaning a played 15 won 14 record with one game to go and an impressive 389 positive points difference in games played . Issac Sutcliffe (18 points) , Callum Ireland (11) and Ollie Garland (10) led the scoring .

Calderdale Explorers Senior men had a tough home match against table toppers Black Country Steelers and found it hard going eventually losing 49-99. Eddie Uttley led the scoring with 14 points . The Senior team face Coventry Flames on Saturday in the last match of a challenging season and the team will be looking to rebuild for next season.

UNDER 16 DEVELOPMENT Squad players have a free week competitively

UNDER 16 NBL have their last game of the season at home against City Of Leeds White II at North Halifax Grammar School with a 4.30pm tip off and look to celebrate their championship win in style.

CALDERDALE HAWKS 1 have the second leg of their quarter final playoff against York Vikings 2 at North Halifax Grammar School on Thursday 20th at 8.30pm looking to overturn a 16 point deficit from the first leg .

CALDERDALE EXPLORERS SENIORS have their last game of the season with a home game against Coventry Flames with a 6.30pm tip off at NHGS.
